Wiyaala Signs Deal with Hippo Records for European Tour and Album Production

After her successful performance at The Hague African Festival in the Netherlands, Ghanaian artist Wiyaala and her management team have been in discussions with Amsterdam-based Hippo Records.
Sources close to the VGMA and AFRIMA award-winning singer from the Upper West region of Ghana have revealed that a deal has been reached to produce an album and tour Europe.
Rob Bierings, the head of Hippo Records, expressed his admiration for Wiyaala’s professionalism and talent: “We at Hippo believe Wiyaala has the potential to be a global star. She’s incredibly talented and maintains a professional attitude in everything she does. We want to support her in making a name for herself internationally and believe she’s one of the young African artists poised for global success.”
Currently releasing her music through her own label, Djimba World Records, Wiyaala shared her excitement about the collaboration: “I spent a lot of time with Hippo Records while in Amsterdam, and they are very enthusiastic about helping me achieve my international goals. I’m excited to work with a label that can boost my global presence.”
Hippo Records has previously worked with successful Ghanaian artists, including Atongo Zimba, the “No Beer in Heaven” hitmaker, who has shared stages with legends like Fela Kuti, Angelique Kidjo, and Hugh Masekela.
Wiyaala is expected to return to Ghana this week from Morocco, where she has been filming the music video for her hit single “This Is Who I Am,” a collaboration with Afrobian artist Ahmed Soultan.
