Techiman SHS Marks 60th Anniversary Amid Infrastructure Challenges

The headmaster of Techiman SHS, Gabriel Ofosu-Mensah, remarked to the Daily Graphic that celebrating 60 years of the school is a significant milestone, with many accomplishments over the years. However, he highlighted that the school faces several challenges, with the poor state of the road network within the school being a major concern.
He also mentioned the lack of essential infrastructure, including dormitories for both boys and girls, classrooms, and notably, sufficient furniture for students.
Eunice Owusuaa Ababio, the Assistant Head in charge of Administration, proposed that the construction of at least two-story dormitory buildings for both male and female students would help address the severe overcrowding at the school. She pointed out that the large student population was putting immense pressure on the limited facilities, such as the toilets, which are inadequate for the number of students.
To mark the school’s 60th anniversary, several events have been planned, starting on April 28, 2023, and culminating in a grand durbar and thanksgiving ceremony on November 11 and 12, 2023.
The Speaker for the celebration will be Professor Augustine Kwasi Fosu, with the Guest Speaker being President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Other notable guests include the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Council and Council of State Member, OseadeƐyɔ Nana Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Techiman South MP Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, and the MCE of Techiman Municipality, Benjamin Gyarko.
The theme for the anniversary is “TESS @ 60; Delivering Quality Education for Life in Our Challenging Society: The Role of Stakeholders.”
