Techiman Garages Association Members sues Executives over Embezzlement

Members of the Techiman Garages Association are in conflict with their executives over allegations of corruption.

The members accuse their leadership of embezzling funds that belong to the Association. The case is currently before the Sunyani High Court, with a hearing scheduled for February 23, 2015.

According to some members, they became aware of the financial mismanagement when the leadership, led by Mr. Adamu Acheampong, was asked to present the Association’s financial accounts for the past two years and two months. Upon reviewing the accounts, members raised objections, which led to a court summons by the leadership.

Efo Frank, a member of the Association, explained that after the accounts were presented, a five-member audit committee was appointed to investigate. The audit revealed several discrepancies, which prompted the appointment of an interim executive to manage the Association’s affairs.

In response, Mr. Acheampong and his executives filed a defamation lawsuit at the Sunyani High Court against the five audit members and the interim executive.

Recently, a similar dispute between the executives of the Eureka Garages Association and members at the Techiman Light Industrial Area in Tuobodom was resolved by local authorities.
