Techiman based-NGO COPIO Honored for Mobilizing Citizens in SPEFA Forums

The Centre of Posterity Interest Organization (COPIO), a Techiman-based NGO, has been recognized by the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) for mobilizing the most citizens in the 2016 Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (SPEFA) Forums.

SPEFA is a government-backed initiative, supported by the World Bank and SNV, designed to strengthen citizens’ and public officials’ understanding of public financial management and promote accountability at the local government level. The project facilitates learning and dialogue between citizens and Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMAs), helping resolve inequalities and improve transparency in governance.

During a two-day phase two review meeting in Cape Coast on November 29–30, 2016, participants from CSOs and MMAs shared experiences and learned best practices. COPIO was awarded a certificate of merit for its outstanding citizen mobilization in the Techiman Municipal Assembly.

COPIO’s Executive Director, Mustapha Maison Yeboah, dedicated the award to all partners and institutions that contributed to the project, including the Techiman Municipal Assembly, traditional leaders, religious bodies, and various government departments.
