WAFA Secure Rising Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi from Techiman City

Ghana Premier League side West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) has completed the capture of promising goalkeeper Richmond Ayi from Techiman City, in what is considered a significant transfer move for the club.

The two clubs reached an agreement on Wednesday morning after a decisive meeting between officials of the Sogakope-based academy and representatives of Techiman City. The negotiations, described as cordial but thorough, ended with both parties satisfied with the terms of the deal.

Before the move was finalized, Ayi had been heavily linked with top-flight giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, with several reports in the media suggesting that both clubs were eager to secure his services. However, WAFA ultimately succeeded in convincing the young shot-stopper to join their project, which is known for developing and nurturing top football talent.

Techiman City, who were relegated after a turbulent season, began the previous campaign impressively but suffered a major decline in form midway through. Despite the team’s struggles, Richmond Ayi emerged as one of their most consistent and outstanding players, earning praise for his agility, reflexes, and composure under pressure. His performances significantly enhanced the club’s reputation even in a difficult season.

Ayi’s addition is expected to strengthen WAFA’s goalkeeping department as they prepare for the upcoming league season. The club believes his talent and potential align perfectly with their long-term development vision.

WAFA is expected to officially present the young goalkeeper to their supporters later this week, where he will be introduced as one of the key signings ahead of the new campaign. Fans are anticipating his arrival, hopeful that he will become a vital asset to the team.
