One-week celebration for Daddy Lumba draws massive crowd

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, hundreds of fans, family, and friends gathered at Black Star Square to mark the one-week memorial of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The emotional ceremony featured musical tributes as attendees came together to honor the life and legacy of the iconic “Makra Mo” hitmaker.
Prominent figures from both the entertainment industry and various other sectors also attended to pay their respects.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, after a music career that spanned over four decades and produced countless highlife classics that shaped Ghanaian music.
This one-week memorial is the first of many planned events to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s life and contributions.
