OB Amponsah Thrills Fans at Night of 1027 Laughs

OB Amponsah’s set at Night of 1027 Laughs and Music drew enthusiastic feedback from attendees, many of whom went on social media to share how much they enjoyed his hilarious performance.

The sharp-witted and calm-looking “optometrist by day, comedian by night”, dressed in black with white sneakers and a matching hat, delivered jokes including one about why Christians are viewed as gentle and Muslims as tough. His material, stage presence, facial expressions, and strong engagement with the crowd ensured an entertaining experience for everyone present.

The show, held on December 26, 2020, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, also featured Ghanaian comedians Foster Romanus and Lekzy DeComic, as well as Nigerian acts Bovi, Acapella, and Okey Bakassi.

Musical performances came from Lynx Entertainment star KiDi and gospel singer Diana Hamilton.

The long-running comedy and music event, organised by Charterhouse Productions for about sixteen years, offers the public a chance to unwind and end the year with joy and laughter.

At the previous edition, OB Amponsah stood out despite facing challenges. Just two days before the show, he had been criticized, insulted, and even threatened by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a joke about their flagbearer John Mahama during Decemba2Rememba 2019 at the Fantasy Dome.

Although many thought the ordeal would take a toll on him mentally, OB Amponsah delivered confidently on the night, impressing the audience with a stellar performance.
