EC Says Disputed Techiman South Election Results Can Only Be Settled in Court

The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that the disputed results of the December 7, 2020 parliamentary election in the Techiman South Constituency can only be resolved in court.
Mr. Anthony Nyame Baafi, the Deputy Bono East Regional Director of the EC, informed the Daily Graphic that once the Techiman South Returning Officer publicly declared Mr. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner, the EC has no further role to play in the matter. He added that any party contesting the results must take the issue to court for resolution.
Mr. Korsah was declared the winner after securing 49,682 votes, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Mr. Christopher Baasongti Beyere, received 49,205 votes.
In the presidential election, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP received 48,268 votes, while former President John Dramani Mahama of the NDC obtained 47,974 votes.
Additionally, the EC has stated it cannot comment on the results of the Sene West election due to an injunction placed on the results.
