Actors guild is only there for funerals – Bernard Nyarko

Kumasi-based actor Bernard Nyarko, popularly known as Bishop, has strongly criticized the leadership of the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Actors Guild.

He believes the way the guild is currently being run does not make it appealing for non-members to join. Speaking on Ashh FM’s Entertainment Zone last Sunday, Bishop told host Nana Amoako that the actions and inactions of the guild’s president, Bill Asamoah, do not encourage them to become members.

According to him, a guild that does not include key industry names like himself, McBrown, Lil Win, Agya Koo, Akrobeto, and Emelia Brobbey cannot be considered strong or influential.

“I’m very disappointed that an association like the Actors Guild has existed without these major stars,” he said.

He added that the guild only seems active when it comes to funerals and football games. “Bill Asamoah is not convincing us to join. There’s no information about their activities. No one informs us about meetings or events,” Bishop stated.

He urged Bill Asamoah to step up and motivate non-members to join the guild.
