Samini Shares Humble Beginnings: How a GHC5 Paycheck Marked His Music Start

Dancehall musician Samini has shared that the very first payment he received in his music career was just GHC5.00.
Speaking on Hitz FM, he explained that this small amount allowed him to buy his first-ever bottle of beer.
Reflecting on his rise in the industry, Samini said he realized he was gaining real success when he appeared in Mary Agyapong’s “Twe Ben Me” music video.
Over the years, Samini has earned numerous accolades, including Best African Act at the 2006 MOBO Awards, Best Performer at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Video Awards, Best African Act at the 2010 Headies, Most Gifted Reggae/Dancehall Video Artist at the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards, and Album of the Year at the 2011 Ghana Music Awards.
