VVIP Calls for Industry Unity and More Support for Ghanaian Music

VVIP joined the legendary segment on YFM’s Myd-Morning Show for an engaging studio session.
What began as a fun conversation quickly turned serious when a member of the group spoke passionately about the direction of Ghanaian music.
Responding to a question about whether the new generation of artists is doing well, they pointed out that “there’s a lot of nonsense in the industry” and that many Ghanaian musicians are afraid to speak out against harmful practices.
The group stressed that Ghanaian radio and TV stations should prioritize local music, explaining that tourists should be exposed to authentic Ghanaian sounds rather than the same foreign content they get back home, especially since foreign stations heavily promote their own.
VVIP emphasized the need for unity within the industry and a collective push against practices that hold musicians back. They also called for greater respect for the legends who have contributed to Ghana’s creative sectors.
Having made music for nearly two decades, the group believes they will remain just as relevant in the next five years.
