Victoria Michaels Set for African Women of Excellence Celebration in Sierra Leone

Supermodel Victoria Michaels is scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone on April 20, 2017, for the prestigious African Women of Excellence Celebration, an event dedicated to honoring remarkable African women from every level of society.

The initiative, which celebrates deserving Sierra Leonean women regardless of their social standing, was created in 2004 by the iconic Isha Johansen, a respected entrepreneur and the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association.

The exclusive, invitation only red carpet ceremony will take place on April 22, 2017, and is expected to be a glamorous night attended by influential figures from across Sierra Leone. Senior government officials, diplomats, international football representatives, celebrities, global models, musicians, business leaders and socialites are all expected to be present.

The event will also acknowledge Isha Johansen’s recent historic accomplishment as the first woman to be elected into the leadership of the African football governing body, CAF, in addition to being the only female Football Association President in Africa.

Speaking to the media before leaving for Sierra Leone, Victoria Michaels, who also leads the African Literacy Development Initiative under the Victoria Michaels Foundation, shared her excitement about taking part in the celebration. She described Isha Johansen as a trailblazer and an inspiration whose strength and determination motivate women across the world. She expressed pride in her achievements and thanked her for setting a powerful example.

Victoria Michaels will be joined at the event by Miss Sierra Leone, Miss Sierra Leone Universe, and a lineup of both local and international models for an elegant runway fashion showcase organized by renowned designer Adebayor Jones.
