Two Underage Students Arrested for Voting in Techiman During 2024 Elections

Two underage Senior High School students in Techiman have been arrested by the police for casting their votes in the ongoing 2024 general elections, as reported by Peace FM.
The elections are being held across 276 constituencies in Ghana, with an estimated 18.8 million registered voters.
There are 13 presidential candidates in the race, including nine from political parties and four independent contenders.
Of the 18.8 million voters, 459,291 are under 18, making up 4% of the voter population. Men account for 48% of voters, while women make up 52%.
The youth will play a crucial role in the elections, representing 55% of the total voter base.
A total of 40,976 polling stations will be operational for the elections, with 328 already having hosted Special Voting exercises on December 2 and 5, 2024.
According to data from CODEO, the largest election-related Civil Society Organization in Ghana, there will be 801 candidates running for the 276 parliamentary seats.
In addition to the 13 presidential candidates, the parliamentary elections feature 111 independent candidates.
