Otumfuo’s entourage attacked in Techiman

Tensions erupted between the youth of Techiman and Nkoranza in the Bono Region on Monday evening, leaving several people, including a child, injured after buses traveling from Nkoranza to Kumasi were allegedly attacked.
The buses had earlier escorted the Asantehene to a funeral in Nkoranza before making their return journey through Techiman. The attack is believed to have been in retaliation for an earlier incident involving the Asantehene’s convoy. Eyewitnesses reported that the convoy had blocked the highway at Amamfom and chanted provocative slogans such as “There is no man in Techiman,” which angered some of the youth in Techiman.
The enraged youth, who had previously threatened to target travelers using the route, followed through on their threats by attacking the buses. As a result, multiple individuals sustained injuries, with a child among the victims. Though the exact severity of the injuries is unclear, no fatalities have been reported.
The police have not yet issued a statement on the incident, but the situation has raised tensions between the two communities. Authorities are expected to take steps to prevent further violence.
Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the initial altercation and identify those responsible for the attacks.
