TEMYAS Launches Fundraising Campaign for Orphanage Project in Techiman

The Techiman Muslim Youth Association (TEMYAS) held a one-day event at the Islamic School Park to officially launch a fundraising campaign for its orphanage project, which began in January 2000 to support orphans in the municipality.
Mr. Salifu Atindago, speaking on behalf of the Association’s chairman, highlighted that TEMYAS is a registered organization, allowing it to operate smoothly. He emphasized that membership remains a challenge and urged the public to join and support the project.
The main goal of TEMYAS is to unite Muslim youth in the Techiman area, promote Islam, and foster cooperation with state institutions. Mr. Salifu shared the Association’s achievements, including sponsoring a weekly Islamic radio program on Asta FM, acquiring public address equipment for preaching, and securing three plots of land in Tuobodom for future development, including a school, dormitory, mosque, and playground for orphans. TEMYAS is currently supporting several orphans in the municipality.
Hon. Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, Deputy Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development and NPP parliamentary candidate for Techiman, was the special guest. He encouraged the youth to be patriotic and contribute to nation-building, citing historical leaders like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He donated GH₵2,000 to support the project and affirmed the NPP’s commitment to supporting the Muslim community.
Hon. Christopher Bayeree, NDC parliamentary candidate, also attended and donated GH₵1,000, expressing his readiness to support Islam in the future.
Speakers, including Sheikh Abdul Aziz Mahamud and Sulayman Hassan, emphasized the importance of using resources to support Islam and the orphanage initiative.
The event’s chairman, Sheikh Bashar Mohammed Musah, Acting Manager of the Islamic Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service, thanked attendees and donors, closing the event with prayers for the success of the project.
