Techiman North NDC and NPP launch campaign on same day

The two major political parties in the Techiman North Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region officially launched their campaigns for the 2016 general elections on Sunday, September 25.
Both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held lively events aimed at winning voters’ support.
The NDC launched its campaign in the district capital, Tuobodom, where large crowds from across the region gathered to back the incumbent Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Education, Alex Kyeremeh. The event attracted several high-profile party members, including General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia; Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare; North Tongu MP and Deputy Minister of Tertiary Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa; and Salifu Maase of Montie FM.
Addressing the gathering, Asiedu Nketia urged supporters not to vote “skirt and blouse” but rather to endorse both President Mahama and the sitting MP. He stressed that the NDC is not a divisive political party and values all Ghanaians, regardless of their ethnic or religious background. He also cautioned voters against being misled by the NPP’s “one district, one factory” promise, emphasizing that choosing a president should not be based solely on such pledges.
Alex Kyeremeh highlighted the developmental projects he has undertaken in the constituency over the past four years and appealed to voters to renew his mandate so he can continue his work.
Meanwhile, the opposition NPP launched its campaign in Aworowa, the district’s second-largest town. Their event also drew a massive crowd, filling the Aworowa R/C School park to capacity.
