Being musicians does not mean we’re not fit to be parliamentarians – Strongman

Strongman Burner has spoken about the common belief that musicians are not serious enough to hold positions in parliament.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on eTV Ghana’s Late Nite Celebrity Show, he explained that being a musician doesn’t mean a person is unintelligent. Many artistes have university degrees and higher qualifications but still choose music as their career.
He pointed out that some presidential aspirants who successfully went through the vetting process may not even have basic JHS certificates, yet they are allowed to contest. So, he questioned why an artiste shouldn’t also be allowed to run for parliament.
Strongman added that if people refuse to support an artiste because of the person’s record in the music industry, that’s understandable. But rejecting someone simply because they are a musician, and assuming only “serious people” should be in parliament, is unfair. “Musicians are serious people too,” he emphasized.
He further stated that you cannot judge someone’s ability to perform in parliament based on their profession or appearance. He noted that even an SRC President from UCC bought a car immediately after leaving office, proving that anyone can engage in wrongdoing if they choose to—musician or not.
