Techiman Court Grants Bail to Four Suspects in NDC Office Vandalism Case

The Techiman Circuit Court has granted bail to four individuals accused of vandalizing the regional offices of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Techiman last Friday. The accused are Illiasu Sulemana (aka Oboot), Andrew Kemire, Fatau Abdallah, and Alhaji Nuhu, a suspended NDC Chairman from the Techiman South Constituency.

However, the court, presided over by Malcolm Ewoenam Bedzra, denied bail to the fifth accused, Kojo Agyei (also known as Kojo Cocaine), who is charged with stabbing a person with a knife. Agyei faces charges of causing harm, damaging the NDC regional office, and conspiring to cause harm, while the other four are charged with conspiracy to cause harm. The accused are scheduled to appear in court again on August 3, 2022.

The Bono East Regional Police Command arrested the five suspects for their alleged involvement in the attack on the NDC’s Bono East regional office in Techiman on July 28, 2022. Alhaji Nuhu’s case was treated separately, as he is accused of instructing a group of 12 individuals to damage the office.

According to a press release issued by the regional police on Sunday, July 31, 2022, one person sustained multiple knife wounds during the attack and was taken to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital for treatment. The release also noted that the party office’s sliding windows and a vehicle parked at the office were vandalized.

The police urged individuals and groups to resolve their disputes through dialogue rather than violence, warning that the law would be enforced without hesitation.
