Techiman City FC Loses Appeal at CAS, Faces Possible Fine

Techiman City FC, a Division One, Zone One club, has lost its case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) under FIFA, following a dispute with Eleven Wonders.
The case began when Techiman City FC accused Eleven Wonders of player inducement regarding their player, Martin Kyeremeh, ahead of a local derby in the 2016-2017 season. Techiman City brought the matter to the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC), which ruled in their favor. However, Eleven Wonders successfully appealed to the GFA’s Appeals Committee, overturning the DC’s decision.
Unhappy with the Appeals Committee’s ruling, Techiman City FC escalated the matter to FIFA through the GFA and CAF. On November 13, 2017, the club filed an appeal at CAS for final resolution of the issue.
However, the Sole Arbitrator for CAS, Luigi Fumagalli, has now dismissed Techiman City’s appeal, ruling that it lacked merit and upholding the FA’s Appeals Committee’s decision.
As a result, Techiman City FC faces the possibility of a substantial fine, which FIFA will determine to cover the costs of the arbitration process.
