‘Coachella’ went through the right sampling process – Sarkodie on his new single

Sarkodie’s latest single, Coachella, includes a line from George Darko’s Odo Colour. The rapper has assured fans that the inclusion of this line poses no issues, as all proper procedures have been followed.

In an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive, Sarkodie addressed concerns about the recognizable line in his song. He emphasized that as long as all necessary steps are taken, no one can accuse him of song theft.

He also pointed out that he would expect the same level of respect if someone were to use his work. “You need to get the consent of the person who owns the rights to the music. That’s how I would like to be treated. Even after I’m gone, I’d want my kids, Titi and MJ, to receive credit or revenue when others use my work,” he said.

Sarkodie admitted that when he first started his career, he might not have taken the proper steps. However, he believes the music industry has evolved, now placing more emphasis on the business side of music. As such, obtaining permission and fulfilling all requirements before releasing a song is essential. He reiterated, “That’s exactly what we did with Odo Colour. Big thanks to Daddy George Darko for making it smooth. We had a conversation, and he received proper credit as a writer because that line was written by him. That’s the proper way to handle it.”

The track features Kwesi Arthur, who adds a modern, hippy vibe to the hook, which blends perfectly with their musical style.

Coachella is part of the highly anticipated No Pressure album, produced by MOGBeatz.
