Guru to Sue Wutah After Shock Split

Hiplife artist Guru says he is deeply disappointed after his efforts to reunite the talented music group Wutah fell apart, and he now intends to take legal action against the duo for breaching their contract.
Wutah – made up of Afriyie and Wutah Kobby – reunited in 2017 after about seven years apart and joined Guru’s NKZ Records. Under the label, they released hit songs like AK47 and Bronya, the latter earning them the Best Group of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) last year.
However, hopes for a lasting reunion were shattered when Wutah Kobby publicly announced earlier this week that he was no longer interested in working with Afriyie as part of the group.
During an interview with SVTV Africa at the Ghana Music Awards UK launch, Guru disclosed that NKZ Records intends to sue Wutah for violating their contract following the group’s split.
According to him, “The truth is, it’s a financial issue. I’ve done my part as CEO but the group is being selfish. Management is preparing to sue them for breach of contract because they’ve wasted our money and time.”
Afriyie has often been accused of being overly greedy.
Wutah is still officially signed to NKZ Records – which also features Ofori Amponsah – but Guru says he plans to focus on his own career for now.
Sadly, it appears fans won’t be hearing any new songs from the duo again.
