Haruna Iddrisu Visits Techiman to Monitor Start of 2025 BECE

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has begun a working tour of the Bono East Region to observe the start of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

His visit started at Techiman Senior High School, which serves as an examination centre for five clusters. A total of 1,423 candidates, 692 boys and 731 girls, are sitting for the BECE at this location.

According to the Regional Director of Education, Nana Kugbeadzor Bakateyi II, the Bono East Region has 20,572 candidates in total, made up of 10,156 boys and 10,416 girls.

Nationally, the Minister said 603,328 candidates are expected to take part in this year’s exam. He encouraged the students to write the exams with honesty and confidence, cautioning them against any form of malpractice.

“You are prepared. Approach the exam as you would any normal process,” Hon. Iddrisu advised. “Uphold your integrity—no form of cheating is worth risking your future.”

He urged candidates to give their best effort and reassured them that they can succeed through hard work and honesty.

During the tour, the Minister also noted the poor condition of furniture in some classrooms. He assured teachers and students that government will provide improved furniture and logistical support to promote better teaching and learning.

Bono East Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi thanked the Education Minister for his visit—his first since taking office—and commended the regional education directorate for its cooperation. He reiterated that the region is fully prepared for the exams and warned that any attempt at cheating would be dealt with.

He also acknowledged concerns over poor lighting in some classrooms and promised prompt attention to the issue.
