Fatal Accident on Techiman-Kumasi Road Claims Three Lives

A tragic accident on the Techiman-Kumasi road in the Bono East Region has claimed the lives of three people.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, near the Kuntunso river. It involved a collision between two heavily loaded trucks, resulting in the immediate deaths of three individuals, including both truck drivers. Two others sustained minor injuries.
The injured victims were promptly transported to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman for medical treatment. Meanwhile, emergency responders from the Police Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) worked together to extricate the bodies from the wreckage.
According to reports, one of the trucks, registered as GW 2732Q, experienced a tire blowout, causing it to veer off course and crash into an oncoming Kia Rhino truck headed toward Kumasi.
Local residents expressed concerns about the dangerous stretch of road, noting that the steep incline and potholes have contributed to multiple accidents in the area. One resident, Kofi Poku, emphasized the need for urgent repairs to prevent further fatalities.
Another resident, Yeboah Asante, appealed to drivers to exercise caution when navigating the section, warning that the road’s poor condition and frequent accidents make it a high-risk area.
In accordance with Islamic customs, the body of the long truck driver who died in the crash has been buried in Techiman.
