The Bono East Regional Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected of being involved in armed robbery in Techiman, Bono East Region.
According to the police, the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation on Sunday, July 17. The suspects have been identified as Issa Mohammed (also known as Baba Container Money), Reagan Kwaku Boakye (alias Baby Face), Kwaku Boateng (alias Star Boy), Elija Osei, and Gyimah Sadique.
During the operation, the police recovered several items from the suspects, including a locally-made pistol with four live cartridges, a toy pistol, two motorbikes, a cutlass, a hammer, and three pairs of scissors. Additionally, they seized one flashlight, a cutter, pepper spray, and 22 mobile phones, believed to be stolen from victims during the robberies. The police also recovered €50 and GH₵ 2,500 in cash from the suspects.
In a related development, a victim of a robbery on July 17 at Nkwaeso, along the Sunyani road, was able to identify Issa Mohammed as one of the perpetrators. The victim also recognized his phone, an iPhone 11 Pro Max, among the stolen items recovered from the gang.
