Eleven Wonders General Manager Slams Ghana Football Reform Committee as ‘Fraudulent and Bogus’

Techiman Eleven Wonders General Manager, Takyi Arhin, has launched a strong criticism of the five-member committee appointed to reform football in Ghana, calling it “fraudulent and bogus.” The outspoken football administrator expressed his belief that the selection of key figures, many of whom were critics of the previous Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration, was poorly considered.

The appointments of former Ghana football star Rev. Osei Kofi, Dr. Kofi Amoah, Eva Okyere, and Abedi Pele to the committee, in particular, have sparked significant backlash. The committee was formed after a corruption exposé by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed widespread issues within the sport.

Takyi Arhin did not hold back in his condemnation of the committee members, questioning their qualifications and fitness for the role. “Let’s be honest and admit that this committee is fraudulent and bogus,” he told Asempa FM. He specifically criticized Dr. Kofi Amoah, pointing out that in 2004, he publicly stated that he had no knowledge of football administration, questioning what had changed since then.

Arhin also slammed Eva Okyere, describing her tenure on the FA’s Disciplinary Committee as a failure, despite her success as a journalist. He further criticized Rev. Osei Kofi, stating that he had no understanding of modern football administration, and accused Abedi Pele of hypocrisy, citing his ban for match-fixing during the infamous 31-0 match against Okwahu United.

Arhin expressed that only Kudjoe Fianoo and Dan Kwaku Yeboah seemed deserving of a place on the committee, adding, “This committee is dead on arrival and won’t achieve anything to improve football.” While he welcomed the idea of reforms, he rejected the current committee’s ability to bring about meaningful change.

The Ghanaian government turned to businessman Dr. Kofi Amoah to lead the reform efforts, with a team that includes Fianoo, Abedi Pele, Rev. Osei Kofi, and sports journalist Eva Okyere. The committee was established as part of efforts to restructure the Ghana Football Association following a bribery scandal.
