Reggie Rockstone Praises Sarkodie for good Work Ethic

Speaking with Yao Mawutor Fianu on Class 91.3 FM’s drive-time show on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Reggie Rockstone expressed concern about the “power of music that Ghanaians are sleeping on.” He acknowledged the difficulties Ghanaians face, noting that despite the hardships, it is music that continues to bring joy and smiles to people’s faces.

He also lamented how people often overlook the importance of music and its creators, failing to give them the recognition they deserve. Rockstone reflected on how entertainment, such as Patapaa’s viral hit “One Corner,” has had a significant impact on the country, and he commended Sarkodie for his consistent dedication to his craft.

“Sarkodie constantly keeping it up… Rapperholic… This… He’s doing that. This boy! How old is he? He’s working like a slave,” Rockstone said, expressing his admiration for the rapper’s tireless work ethic.

He noted that Sarkodie, along with his contemporaries, is playing a key role in representing Ghana globally. Reggie Rockstone also saluted other artists like Medikal and Stonebwoy, urging for more support to help them achieve international success.

The rapper and entrepreneur emphasized that the efforts of these artists contribute significantly to initiatives like the government’s Year of Return and Beyond the Return, making them more meaningful and impactful. He called for a more intentional effort to promote Ghana’s music culture, especially during festive seasons, noting that it would be a missed opportunity if tourists visiting Ghana do not experience the country’s music scene.

In response, the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MoTAC) recently launched the Play Ghana Initiative, urging DJs, recreational centre owners, and media outlets to prioritize Ghanaian music, not just this December, but continuously in the future.
