Devoted Ghanaian Father Fatally Stabbed in Random Attack in Bronx

A 53-year-old security guard and single father of two, George Ennin, was killed on Monday in what police describe as a senseless and unprovoked stabbing. Ennin was walking to work in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, just blocks from his home, when he was jumped by a stranger and stabbed multiple times.

Although he was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Neighbors and friends remembered Ennin as a dedicated father who was “one in a million” for his commitment to raising his two daughters.

The NYPD arrested 38-year-old Sean Jones on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the slaying. Jones, a career criminal with 15 prior arrests dating back to 2012, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.

His criminal record includes history of violent assaults, robbery, and biting a police officer, along with multiple reports of him being an emotionally disturbed person. At the time of the attack, witnesses reported hearing screams before seeing the assailant flee on foot. Jones was awaiting arraignment as of Wednesday.
