American singer Beyoncé has unveiled the official trailer for her forthcoming film Black is King, which features Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale.
The film, set for worldwide release on July 31, is inspired by the soundtrack she created for Disney’s remake of The Lion King.
Beyoncé describes Black is King as a visual album connected to her soundtrack The Lion King: The Gift.
In addition to Shatta Wale, she worked with several leading African artistes on the project, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, and Mr Eazi. The soundtrack also includes contributions from American stars such as Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Jessie Reyez, Pharrell, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
