Bawumia has passed Ghana’s leadership test – MP Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah

The Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has expressed strong belief in former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s capacity to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2028 general elections, describing him as a proven and reliable leader.

Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in Techiman on Saturday, Mr. Mensah Korsah encouraged delegates in the Bono East Region to fully support the former Vice President in the NPP Presidential Primaries set for January 2026. He noted that Dr. Bawumia has earned national trust through dedicated service, humility, and perseverance.

“Dr. Bawumia has worked tirelessly for the party. He served excellently as Vice President and advanced to run for President. We must all support him to take the next step,” he said.

The MP pointed out that Ghana’s political experience shows that presidential aspirants rarely win on their first try. “History tells us that if you want the Presidency, you usually need more than one attempt before Ghanaians embrace you,” he added.

He argued that Dr. Bawumia has already met the expectations Ghanaians set for leaders. “Ghanaians want to see humility, patience, and courage. Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated all these qualities, so why should we overlook him for someone who hasn’t been tested?” he questioned.

Mr. Mensah Korsah also dismissed criticisms from other contenders. “They will come here and say all sorts of things to bring Dr. Bawumia down,” he stated. “Ignore them, because Bawumia is the best person to lead the NPP to victory.”

He further emphasized the former Vice President’s strong national appeal, calling him one of the most recognizable political figures in Ghana. “Aside from Mahama, who is well known because he has been President, no politician in Ghana is more popular than Dr. Bawumia. Everywhere we go, the people know him,” he said.

According to the MP, Dr. Bawumia’s widespread recognition and track record make him the most “marketable” candidate for the NPP. “We have already promoted him nationwide. Introducing a new candidate would require about ten times more effort,” he argued.

He urged delegates in Techiman and the entire Bono East Region to deliver a decisive victory for Dr. Bawumia in the primaries, signaling unity and strength to the rest of the country. “If we want to experiment, we can choose someone unknown. But if we want progress, we must stick with Bawumia,” he stressed.

Mr. Mensah Korsah concluded by noting that Dr. Bawumia’s years of service, humility, and resilience have fully prepared him for national leadership. “Ghanaians want to test the values of our leaders, and Bawumia has passed that test after his first attempt,” he affirmed.
