Sakyi-Addo Praises M.anifest as a Rare “Thinker” in Ghana’s Music Industry

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, has praised Ghanaian rapper M.anifest, describing him as “a thinker.”

During an appearance on the Class Drive on Class91.3FM on Thursday, September 1, Mr. Sakyi-Addo commended the award-winning artiste for his intelligence and depth.

“M.anifest is smart and very insightful. I admire him because he thinks deeply. He’s more than just a musician, he is a true thinker, and Ghana needs more thinkers making music,” he told host Prince Benjamin.

M.anifest, born Kwame Ametepe Tsikata, has collaborated with international acts such as Damon Albarn, Flea, Tony Allen, and Erykah Badu, and appeared on five tracks on the Rocket Juice and The Moon album.

The BBC’s arts programme The Strand spotlighted him in 2012 as one of four artistes to watch. He later won Best Rapper of the Year and Hip-Hop Song of the Year at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards, following nominations in both 2012 and 2013.

In 2015, his single “Someway Bi” earned third place at the International Songwriters Competition (ISC), and The Guardian named him the leading rapper on the African continent that same year.

M.anifest has also announced that his upcoming 13-track album, Nowhere Cool, will be released on September 8, 2016.
