Techiman South Assembly Elects Isaac Kwaku Frimpong as Presiding Member

The Techiman South Municipal Assembly in the Bono East Region has successfully elected a Presiding Member (PM) to lead its affairs. The municipality had previously failed to elect a PM on five separate occasions, causing delays in the municipality’s development.
However, during a sitting in Techiman on Tuesday, the assembly elected Mr. Isaac Kwaku Frimpong, a government appointee and teacher at Techiman Senior High School, as the new PM. Mr. Frimpong secured 35 votes, representing 73% of the valid votes cast, defeating his sole opponent, Mr. Adams Issah, the Assembly Member for the Kenten Electoral Area, who received 10 votes. The election was conducted and overseen by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr. Frimpong thanked the assembly members for their trust in him and pledged to run an open-door administration that would encourage all members to contribute to the municipality’s progress. He emphasized that teamwork, dedication, and trust would be key to the assembly’s decision-making and called for unity among members to ensure effective governance.
Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, congratulated the assembly members and expressed confidence that they would work together to advance the municipality’s development. He also mentioned that efforts were underway to improve street lighting for better security in the run-up to the December 7 elections and urged the assembly members to remain innovative in addressing the community’s development needs.
