Survey Shows Techiman South MP Martin Korsah Likely to Retain Seat in 2024 with 61% Support

A recent survey conducted in August 2023 by FAKS Investigative Services suggests that Martin Agyei-Mensah Korsah, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South in the Bono East Region, is likely to retain his seat in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The survey indicates that approximately 61% of respondents expressed satisfaction with his performance and intend to vote for him again, while 39% either planned to vote for the NDC or were undecided.
The survey, which interviewed 400 people in the Techiman South constituency, aimed to assess public opinion regarding Korsah’s performance as an MP and gauge the political preferences of residents. When asked to rate the MP’s performance, 61% rated it as “very good” or “good,” compared to the remaining respondents who rated it as “fair.”
Techiman South is known for its active political participation and vibrant trade sector. The survey, which was conducted through face-to-face interviews, gathered responses from a diverse group of respondents, ensuring a broad representation of age, gender, and socio-economic status. It aimed to gauge local political views, the MP’s influence, and the expectations of the constituency in relation to governance and development.
The findings of the poll revealed that 95% of the respondents were registered voters, and most supported the MP’s policies, such as the provision of soft loans for traders, financial support for widows, and the construction and rehabilitation of local roads. These interventions appear to have garnered broad public approval.
However, the survey also highlighted that there is some opposition to the MP’s policies, indicating a need for further analysis of the concerns raised by those who are dissatisfied. Despite this, the NPP has a strong lead in public support within the constituency, followed by the NDC.
Infrastructure development emerged as the top priority among constituents, with respondents expressing a desire for improvements in areas such as road networks, street lighting, modern sanitation facilities, and access to potable water. The survey suggests that addressing these key infrastructural needs could further enhance the MP’s and the NPP’s chances in the 2024 elections.
Overall, the survey reflects strong support for both the MP and the NPP, with many constituents appreciating the MP’s efforts and visible presence in the constituency. The poll indicates that if the government can address the pressing infrastructure needs of the community, it could lead to a significant boost in support ahead of the upcoming elections.
