Techiman South Assembly taken steps to accelerate holistic development – MCE

The Techiman South Municipal Assembly is making significant strides in driving the overall development of the area, according to Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Techiman, Bono East Region, Mr. Gyarko highlighted the Assembly’s progress in various sectors, including security, sanitation, revenue generation, and road rehabilitation, particularly in the main market area.
On security, the MCE emphasized the improvement of safety measures through the installation of street lights across Techiman’s main market and enhanced patrols by both the local city guards and the Ghana Police Service. These initiatives aim to safeguard lives and property, ensuring a safer environment for residents and businesses.
Mr. Gyarko also announced plans to begin road rehabilitation in the market area, with the aim of reducing congestion and transforming it into a more modern, business-friendly location. He noted that the market attracts traders and businesspeople from across the West African sub-region, making these improvements crucial.
In terms of sanitation, the MCE reported that the Assembly has partnered with Zoomlion Ghana, a waste management company, to improve cleanliness across the Municipality. Regular refuse collection is being carried out at the four designated waste sites, and efforts to clear dumping sites have been successful. To maintain ongoing cleanliness, the Assembly has involved the Techiman Traditional Council and local residents in routine clean-up activities, which Mr. Gyarko praised as a commendable effort deserving of full support.
By improving sanitation, the MCE explained, the risk of communicable diseases caused by poor waste management will be reduced, helping to protect public health and saving costs associated with medical treatment.
Mr. Gyarko urged residents to continue supporting the Assembly’s efforts, stressing that development is a collective responsibility. He emphasized that the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential to the Municipality’s growth and progress.
