Techiman South Assembly Reaches Revenue Target in First Quarter of 2022

The Techiman South Municipal Assembly has successfully collected GH¢899,657.89 in internally generated funds (IGF) for the first quarter of 2022, which represents 95.89% of its target of GH¢938,211.11. This marks an improvement compared to the first quarter of 2021, when the Assembly raised GH¢780,829.09, exceeding its target of GH¢690,568.89.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed satisfaction with the Assembly’s progress, particularly in revenue generation. He credited this success to various initiatives aimed at improving revenue collection, such as more effective market management and enhanced engagement with stakeholders like revenue collectors, encouraging them to be more honest and dedicated to their duties.

Mr. Gyarko highlighted the Assembly’s efforts to zone the market area, which allowed for better daily monitoring and supervision of revenue collectors. He emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to meeting its revenue targets ahead of schedule to drive the development of the municipality. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing efforts to build stronger relationships with stakeholders, including traders and transport unions, to promote cooperation and foster a better business environment in the central business district and surrounding areas.
