Police Provide Update on Techiman South Shooting Incident, Offer Reward for Information

The police have provided an update on the shooting incident that occurred at the Techiman South Constituency Collation Centre in Ghana, where two people lost their lives and six others were injured. In a statement released on Thursday, Chief Superintendent Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Police Public Affairs, informed the public about the latest developments.
On December 1, 2022, a police delegation, led by the Director-General of Welfare, COP Mrs. Habiba Twumasi-Sarpong, visited the families of the eight victims of the shooting. The delegation, which included officials from the Intelligence Unit, the Bono East Regional Commander, and the Director of the Cold Case Unit, met with each family in their homes in Techiman to offer condolences and update them on the progress of the investigation.
The police reassured the families that although the individuals responsible for the shooting had not yet been identified, the investigation would continue until the perpetrators are brought to justice. The case has been handed over to the newly established Cold Case Unit, which is dedicated to reviewing and investigating long-standing cases, even after public interest wanes. The families were introduced to the Director of the Cold Case Unit, who has begun working closely with them.
To aid the investigation, the police have announced a reward of 100,000 Ghana Cedis (GHC 100,000) for any member of the public who provides credible information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the incident.
The Cold Case Unit, which is reviewing all major unsolved cases from the recent past, is actively working with affected families to ensure justice. The police assured the public that updates would be provided without compromising the ongoing investigation.
