Paul Gyamfi Elected Presiding Member of Techiman North District Assembly

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Hon. Paul Gyamfi, the Assembly Member for the Offuman Dampaaso Electoral Area, was elected as the Presiding Member of the Techiman North District Assembly.
In a vote supervised by Mrs. Grace Sena Adzah, the Techiman North Constituency Electoral Officer, Hon. Gyamfi secured 26 out of 35 valid votes cast, amounting to 70.2%. His rival, Hon. Richard Yeboah, the Assembly Member for Krobo Acheaw Electoral Area, garnered 9 votes, or 26.8%. Two members of the 37-member assembly were absent from the voting.
Following the election, Hon. Gyamfi was sworn into office by His Worship Mr. Kwadwo Frimpong Manso, a District Magistrate Court Judge in Tuobodom.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Gyamfi expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for their confidence in him. He urged the members to work together with a shared sense of purpose and collaboration to address the district’s challenges and promote development.
He highlighted key priorities for the assembly, including the construction of a new assembly block and road maintenance, which he described as urgent areas of focus.
“Together, we must ensure inclusive support, active participation in decision-making, and diligent work to drive the progress of our district,” he said.
Hon. Gyamfi also committed to working cooperatively with all assembly members, regardless of political affiliation, and encouraged constructive criticism while avoiding actions that could hinder development. He stressed the importance of collaborating with unit committees, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders to initiate projects that would gain support from the assembly and non-governmental organizations.
Additionally, Hon. Gyamfi emphasized the need to promote environmental cleanliness and tackle issues such as illegal logging and sand mining, which damage the district’s natural resources.
In an interview with Asta FM’s Nana Kwadwo Adu, the Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Everson Addo-Donkor, expressed appreciation to the assembly members, traditional leaders, workers, and party supporters for their collaboration and support. He reiterated his commitment to working closely with the assembly members to drive the success and development of the district.
The event was attended by Mr. Stephen Appiagyei Donkor (a.k.a. Dr. GIFAS), the Techiman North Constituency NPP Chairman, along with departmental heads and other dignitaries.
