Techiman Municipal Assembly Collects GH₵ 2.194 Million in Internally Generated Funds

The Techiman Municipal Assembly has successfully collected GH₵ 2.194 million in Internally Generated Funds (IGF) from January to October this year, according to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko. In an interview with the Ghanaian Times on Wednesday, Mr. Gyarko explained that this amount represents 79.43% of the projected revenue for the year.
He expressed satisfaction with the Assembly’s performance in generating funds internally, highlighting that the funds are crucial for supporting the development projects and services within the municipality. The MCE emphasized that the IGF plays a significant role in complementing government allocations, enabling the local government to undertake various infrastructural and social programs for the benefit of the people in Techiman.
Mr. Gyarko further noted that the Assembly had made significant strides in improving its revenue collection mechanisms, which included increasing public awareness about tax obligations and enhancing its enforcement of revenue generation policies. He added that the Assembly’s efforts to streamline revenue collection processes and curb leakages had contributed to the positive outcome so far.
Looking ahead, the MCE expressed confidence that the Assembly would surpass its revenue target by the end of the year, given the steady collection rate and ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of the assembly’s financial systems.
He also appealed to residents and businesses in the municipality to continue complying with their tax obligations, emphasizing that the revenue collected was vital for funding development projects, maintaining public services, and addressing the needs of the growing population in the Techiman Municipality. The MCE concluded by acknowledging the efforts of the assembly staff and other stakeholders in ensuring the success of the revenue collection process.
