Rema finally reacts to ‘demonic’ mask allegations

Afrobeats artist Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, has addressed accusations surrounding the “demonic” masks he wore during his performance at London’s O2 Arena, asserting that the masks are replicas of traditional bronzes worn by his ancestors.
The singer faced backlash on social media and from some concertgoers, with some speculating he was involved in the Illuminati after seeing the masks. However, Rema received support from a fan from Benin City, who clarified that the mask was a representation of Queen Idia, an iconic figure in the Benin Kingdom.
In response, Rema clarified the situation, explaining that the masks were inspired by the ancient bronzes created by his forefathers, many of which are displayed at the London Museum. He emphasized that by wearing the mask, he is honoring the heritage of Edo State and bringing global attention to it.
RAVAGE UPRISING/ My Ancestors bronzes sit in the museum of this very city so I remade mine. Hence, Edo is redefined, the map reshaped, your minds awakened & the mask reborn. Thank you London! 🦇🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/2JF0cGHGdu
