Afua Asantewaa’s Medical Team Reveals How They Helped Her Push Through Fatigue

The medical team supporting Afua Asantewaa, the Ghanaian aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual, shared how they persuaded her not to quit. On the second day of the marathon, Afua became exhausted and expressed her intention to stop due to fatigue.
Dr. Grace Buckman, a member of the medical team, explained in an interview with Joy FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, how they helped Afua regain her determination. She recounted that on Day 2, during the late morning to afternoon, Afua suddenly stopped and declared she wouldn’t continue. At that point, Dr. Buckman thought the attempt was over.
With the psychologist unavailable, the team reached out to him by phone, and after speaking with Afua, they managed to motivate her. “We knew what to say, and the team was very solid. After a short time, she got up and said, ‘I am a champion, let’s go and do this.’ That’s what happened,” Dr. Buckman shared during the interview.
