Gyakie Reflects on Her Success and the Need for More Support for Female Musicians

Gyakie has enjoyed significant success in her music career over the past few years. The Ghanaian singer has successfully penetrated the Nigerian music scene with her songs, and her 2021 hit single ‘Forever’ topped both local and international charts, earning her multiple awards.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Paula Amma Broni after her performance at Black Sherif’s Mozama Disco concert, Gyakie shared that her success goes beyond just being widely recognized. She emphasized the hard work put into promoting her music brand.

“It’s more than just hearing my name everywhere. There was a lot of behind-the-scenes effort to push the name and songs. Once we did that, it reached a point where people began to hear and love my music,” she explained.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by female musicians, Gyakie acknowledged the need for more support to bring other talents into the industry.

“The music industry is open to everyone, and it’s about how hard you push yourself. However, I feel there’s still much work to be done for females. We need more women to be heard and recognized in the industry,” she added.
