Dr Olakunle Churchill, the estranged husband of Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh, has finally opened up about what he believes caused their marriage to fall apart.
Their relationship came to an abrupt end earlier this year after Tonto announced on Instagram that she had moved out of their home. She later made a series of accusations against Churchill, including claims of domestic abuse, infidelity and other marital issues.
Churchill had remained mostly quiet about the breakup, speaking only once to say he was willing to reconcile. Recently, however, he hinted on Instagram that Tonto had been misleading the public.
In a detailed interview with well known TV host Azuka Ogujiuba, Churchill narrated an incident from June 8, 2015. He said he picked Tonto up from the airport a day before her birthday, but a minor disagreement led her to walk away. According to him, after he informed her by text that he was attending a friend’s thanksgiving event, she stormed his home and caused extensive damage.
He explained that he had turned off the electric fence wire just in time, as she began pulling it down before jumping into the compound and destroying property.
Churchill described Tonto as someone who becomes uncontrollably upset during conflicts, sometimes for hours, adding that he believes it may be due to negative thought patterns, though he was reluctant to go further into detail.
