Article Wan Voices Disappointment After VGMA 2017 Snub

The 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards may have ended, but for many artistes who left without a win, the disappointment still lingers.
Afropop/Afro-dancehall musician Article Wan has expressed his dissatisfaction with the event after failing to secure any awards despite receiving three nominations.
Article Wan, known for his hit track “Solo,” was nominated for Best New Artiste, Afro-Pop Song of the Year, and Most Popular Song of the Year.
In an interview with 3FM’s DJ Enkay, he revealed that he’s still struggling to understand how things unfolded at the awards.
He also found it disheartening that Medikal’s “Too Risky” and his own “Solo,” both of which dominated the music scene in 2016, made no significant impact at the ceremony.
“I wasn’t extremely hurt, but honestly, I was confused, like ‘what’s going on?’ Because throughout last year, they knew the work we put in—the performances, the energy, everything.
Charley, we were everywhere. And speaking of my brother Medikal, 2016 was all about ‘Solo’ and Medikal.
So for a major national awards event to come, and for us to get multiple nominations and still walk away with nothing, it felt strange,” he said.
Article Wan added that he believes something was off with the way the awards were conducted.
