Ghana’s Edem Crowned Best International Act Africa in Canada

Ghanaian musician Edem has been crowned Best International Act – Africa at the 2015 Black Canadian Awards.
The VRMG boss came out on top in a strong category featuring seven leading African artists: Mafikizolo (South Africa), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Davido (Nigeria), Oritse Femi (Nigeria), Teeyah (Ivory Coast), and Edem himself representing Ghana.
Paul Ade, Executive Producer of the Canadian Awards Academy, praised the growth of African music, noting its increasing popularity across Canadian cities.
The awards ceremony took place in Toronto on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
In other categories, Trinidad’s Destra Garcia won Best International Act – Caribbean for the second consecutive year, while Emmanuel Jal took home the award for Best African Style Artist, competing against notable Canadian-based African talents like Akin, Dice Ailes, Trinity Mpho, Kobena Aquaa-Harrison, and Ozee B.

The night featured world-class performances by DOAHL Academy, Lisa Banton, Leila Dey, The Psalmist, SKIBU, Sunset Service, Jay Harmony, Mel C, and Xolisa – making the 2015 Black Canadian Awards a memorable celebration of talent and excellence.
